Video Game Genres...

Action – this genre focuses on the players reflexes to overcome difficulties and achieve their goals. This genre includes games like Shooting games and Fighting games.

Action and Adventure – this genre is the same with the Action genre but focuses on a much longer obstacle that the main character or characters of the game overcome. Games like Legend of Zelda is a good and best example of this genre.

Role-playing (RPG) – this genre is my favorite among all other genre so far. This is about a certain character or group of characters progressing through a story line and combating monsters using different kinds of skills.

Strategy – this genre is more complicated than any other genre of games. These kind of games requires skillful thinking and planning your victory. This is like chess, you compete with analytical skills.

Life Simulation – this genre is about controlling an artificial life, it can be a person, a family, or even a whole city. The most popular game in this genre is The Sims.

These genres can be combined together to form a whole different genre. The development of these genres may introduce players into a different gaming experience and may blur the line between games and reality.
